I am an ecologist with a curiosity for how insects support ecosystem functions and services. I completed my PhD research on the introduced dung beetle communities in New Zealand. Previous to that, I researched tropical rainforest ecosystem engineer species including ants and termites, exploring their contribution to ecosystem functions and services. In addition to my work as a field ecologist, I also work on lab/desk based research, including: functional traits, biodiversity informatics, ecosystem function metrics, insect curation in natural history collections and quantitative evidence synthesis through meta-analysis. Advances in technology and AI make it an exciting time to work on these research questions! I am motivated by the desire to make a meaningful contribution to society through biodiversity research, education, and the promotion of nature-based solutions, aimed at ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
